HOW TO BECOME A BETTER LOVER – ADVICES

If you admire and encourage your son when he plays war games or competitive sport, and your daughter when she plays with her dolls or ‘helps Mummy’, don’t show your disapproval when they find out their genitals are different, and when they play with them.

Answer, as best you can, every question your child asks about sex. Don’t be coy or embarrassed. Your child will only become embarrassed if he or she finds that you are. The time to satisfy a child’s curiosity is now!

Don’t be evasive if a child asks how babies are made. Explain simply, and let the child see the anatomical differences between its parents. You can obtain books which are illustrated in a way that even small children can understand. Most children should learn about sex and its consequences before the hormonal tides of puberty cause problems. The pictures may be erotic, even to a small child, but they become accepted quickly. Later, with the emotional stress of puberty, the same pictures can cause anxiety which need never occur if they are shown and discussed in a sensible, unembarrassed way. All children need to understand how sexual intercourse takes place, and how a baby is born through its mother’s vagina. If you don’t explain, the child will make up fanciful explanations which can be damaging to its future sex life.
