ANTI DUST MITE TREATMENTS: IF YOU ARE CHEMICALLY SENSITIVE
If you are chemically sensitive, you are best advised to avoid mite-killing paint and mite-killing chemicals, which usually contain strong insecticides or other chemicals. Allerite, the mite-loosening solution, contains cleaning and other chemicals, including eucalyptus oil. Residues are minimised because the liquid is largely recovered, but they might upset the highly sensitive. Nitrogen gas treatment, however, should cause no problem and may be worth trying.
The denaturing spray treatments are based on tannic acid, a natural chemical, which is tolerated quite well by some chemically sensitive people, and few reactions have been reported. You might be able to use tannic acid without problems, but there is a risk that you may not react to it until you have been using it for some time, by when your environment would be thoroughly impregnated. If you are highly chemically sensitive, you would be prudent to avoid using denaturing sprays. If you are mildly chemically sensitive, there is a slight risk to using them; try in a small area only at first for some months if you decide to go ahead.
